When history professor Weinzierl left last year, he bequeathed us two scrapbooks that a student of his had obtained for his paper from distant relatives of Mr. Palmer.  The student gave Dr. Weinzierl the scrapbooks and when Doc was packing, he asked us to find a home for them.  We were excited.  After extensive research, the librarian found that Mr. Palmer is featured in the "Hall of Fame" of Harness Racing.”  View his history at:  https://harnessmuseum.com/content/walter-palmer

Their library was thrilled with this find. Known as the Poet Laureate, Walter Palmer was born in Prairie Center, Illinois in 1865. As a young man, he was active in harness racing as a trainer, driver and handler on the then very prominent Illinois Valley Circuit.  We are proud to have found a home for his personal memoirs.  Thanks goes to Dr. Weinzierl for entrusting this precious cargo to us.
